About Mr Tehrani

Who is Mr Tehrani?

Mr Hamid Tehrani is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Mohs surgeon who specialises in the treatment of skin cancer.

He is the first Plastic surgeon in the UK to have trained in Mohs micrographic surgery and has gained a reputation as a leading authority in basal cell carcinoma surgery.

Mr Tehrani founded, and is the lead surgeon of, the Mersey Regional Mohs Surgery Centre.

What treatment does Mr Tehrani offer?

Mr Tehrani is a specialist in the treatment of skin cancer, especially basal cell carcinoma.

As the lead clinician of the Mersey Regional Mohs Surgery Centre, Mr Tehrani can offer this ‘gold standard’ in basal cell carcinoma removal. Once your BCC has been removed, his experience of over 15 years of Plastic & Reconstructive surgery then allows him to provide the optimal reconstructive techniques to fix your wound. This is unlike many other Mohs surgeons, who are not Plastic surgeons and so may often need you to be referred to a reconstructive surgeon after removing your BCC.

By removing your BCC with Mohs surgery, and then using his Plastic & Reconstructive skills to fix your wound, Mr Tehrani has gained an international reputation for the optimal service he provides.

Where did Mr Tehrani train?

Mr Tehrani completed his medical school training at Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospital in London. He then trained at a number of prestigious centres, including Cambridge, The Royal London, and St.Barts Hospital in London.

Having a strong interest in cancer research and treatment, Mr Tehrani performed an MD higher research degree in Basal Cell Carcinoma, helping to provide major advances in the current knowledge of BCCs.

After completing his Plastic Surgery training, Mr Tehrani also further trained at the Mohs surgery centre in Cardiff, becoming the first Plastic surgeon in the UK (and one of only a few in the world) to be trained in both specialties.

Does Mr Tehrani help teach others?

Mr Tehrani trains surgeons in both Plastic and Reconstructive surgery and Mohs surgery. He has had trainees from specialties including Plastic surgery, Ophthalmic surgery and Dermatology, from both the UK and USA.

Having written over 50 research articles, Mr Tehrani now oversees surgeons performing further research including PhD and MSc higher degrees in basal cell carcinoma and skin cancer treatment.

Mr Tehrani regularly lectures at meetings and conferences, and teaches GPs on skin cancer management and BCCs. He also teaches at the Royal College of Surgeons on their Facial Reconstruction course, and is regularly invited to advise national groups on skin cancer.
